Pizza Patrón Looks to Add 60 New Stores in Houston

posted on February 24th 2016 /

DALLAS – Feb. 24, 2016 – Pizza Patrón, widely known for its PIZZA POR PESOS® program, announced today that it plans to add 60 new franchised stores in the Houston metropolitan area over the next five years.
Company officials say the Houston market represents an unparalleled opportunity for growth for the brand inside the U.S. Harris County trails only Los Angeles County among the 60 counties in the U.S. with the largest Hispanic populations, according to a recently released Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data. Among the 2.11 million Hispanics in the Houston metropolitan area, 41 percent are foreign-born, the fourth-highest percentage among the 10 largest metropolitan areas in the U.S., the Pew report shows.

“We have a loyal core customer and with stats like this we are very optimistic that we will continue to expand our footprint and serve them all,” said Victor Vazquez, vice president of Business Development for Pizza Patrón. “The ceiling of opportunity has never been higher for any market like it is for Houston.”

Recently, the chain reignited its franchising program and bolstered its corporate support team in preparation for the expansion by adding Isaiah Melendez as its new franchise sales manager.

The company is seeking franchise partners and investors looking to capitalize on the brand’s history and experience. Potential franchisee candidates include seasoned restaurateurs with multi-unit experience and qualified owner operators that are solely devoted to their Pizza Patrón business and live in the community they serve. Including a franchise fee of $20,000, the initial investment to own and operate a Pizza Patrón restaurant starts as low as $211,100.

“We have recently announced a new standalone store model that greatly expands real estate opportunities,” said Vazquez. “Because it stands alone, it stands out from strip center businesses, heightening our brand awareness and maximizing the ROI for our franchisees.”

Company executives tout the new concept as the future of quick service pizza, bringing the convenience of fast food to the carryout pizza experience. This is a very exciting time for Pizza Patrón and our partners, says Vazquez.

Pizza Patrón Slashes Promotion Price

posted on February 18th 2016 /

DALLAS – Feb. 18, 2016 – Pizza Patrón is slashing the price of its current ‘two large pizzas for $9.99’ promotion to ‘$8.99’ or 180 Mexican Pesos (bills only). The promotion is offered for a limited time – from February 15th through the end of April and is valid for pepperoni or cheese pizzas only.

Company executives say falling gas prices give customers extra incentive to jump in their cars and pick up a meal for the family from Pizza Patrón.

“We’re seeing lower gas prices today than we have seen in more than 10 years,” said Andrew Gamm, executive vice president of Pizza Patrón.  “Our customer’s wallets get hit especially hard when gas prices rise. So, with gas down, we see this as a great time to mash the pedal all the way to the floorboard with an unbeatable deal.”

Additionally, customers can create more value and “make it a meal” by adding a 5-piece order of Quesostix, marinara dipping sauce and a two liter Pepsi® product for only $5 more, a two dollar savings over the company’s number one selling combo that contains the same items.

With the promotion, customers will receive, as always, hot, custom-made pizzas crafted from dough made fresh every day at each location. The combo deal will be supported by television, radio, out-of-home and digital advertising in select markets.

“It can be a challenge to find an individual fast food meal for under $8.99,” said Gamm. “And you can feed a family of five with this deal from Pizza Patrón. We have always believed that ‘feeding people’ is a high calling, and it is very rewarding when we are able to introduce our brand to new customers.”

Pizza Patrón Launches ‘Veterans Por Favor’ – Waives All Franchise Fees

posted on February 15th 2016 /

DALLAS – Feb. 15, 2016 – Today, in honor of Presidents’ Day, as America celebrates its past and present commander in chiefs, Pizza Patrón announced that it is launching its ‘Veterans Por Favor’ program. The program waives all franchise fees for veterans on their first restaurant with the chain.

The ‘Veterans Por Favor’ program was formed to show our gratitude and appreciation for the hard working, blue collar men and women of our armed services” said Victor Vazquez, vice president of Business Development for Pizza Patron, Inc. The program is for qualified, honorably discharged veterans. It fully waives the $20,000 in franchise fees for the first restaurant to give veterans an enormous boost into business ownership with a rock-solid thirty year old chain.

“Our experience with veterans within our corporate organization strengthens our belief that military training often provides veterans with the skills and discipline needed to operate successfully within a franchise organization,” said Vazquez. “By eliminating franchise fees, the cost of entry may come down just enough to put owning a business within the reach of many otherwise qualified candidates.”
The ‘Veterans Por Favor’ program is now being offered and is slated to run through the end of 2016. Development opportunities exist throughout Texas in both major and tertiary markets, and exclusivity is available in select markets.
Pizza Patrón is coming off its best year in company history, and recently announced the re-launch of its franchise program. The chain has more than a decade of experience in franchising and has grown over the years with a strong core of seasoned franchisees. Pizza Patrón provides franchisees with extensive training and support, as well as turnkey development, including assistance in site selection, tenant representation, architectural plans, construction and store launch. Pizza Patrón franchisees also benefit from commodity pricing negotiated direct with manufacturers, long-standing relationships with vendor partners and an operating system that has been refined and strengthened over thirty years of business.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Pizza Patrón

posted on February 10th 2016 /

DALLAS – Feb. 10, 2016 – 30 years ago, Pizza Patrón got its start as an independent restaurant centered around one flagship product: pizza. The chain’s roots can be traced back to Antonio Swad, a native of Columbus, Ohio and restaurant manager who dreamed of one day owning his own restaurant. In 1986, Antonio packed up everything he owned, moved to Dallas, and opened his pizza shop in the heavily Hispanic area known as Pleasant Grove.

Here are five things most people don’t know about the brand:

  1. Pizza Patrón originally opened under the name ‘Pizza Pizza’ in 1986

Antonio started his business with the name ‘Pizza Pizza’ simply so customers would have no doubt what was sold there. Soon after opening, he was compelled to change the name because of another brand’s pre-existing trademark.

  1. The founder worked behind the counter for the first seven years without a day off

Like many true entrepreneurs, failure was not an option for Antonio. He had a dream, invested his life savings, and he was going to see it succeed no matter what it took. This laser-like focus also fueled Antonio to create another successful brand in 1994, the nation’s number one wing chain – Wingstop®.

  1. Frank Sinatra was part of the inspiration behind the logo

Andrew Gamm, executive vice president of Pizza Patrón, was the artist who created the iconic logo for the brand. His goal was to create a kind of Latin James Bond that ‘men wanted to be’ and ‘women wanted to be with.’ It has been rumored that the image was based on Mexican actor Andrés García’s likeness. However, Gamm used Frank Sinatra’s ‘cool’ persona as an inspiration for what ultimately emerged as the Patrón logo.

  1. Boxing legend Julio César Chávez sported the Pizza Patrón logo on his shorts during his farewell fight

In 2005, during his farewell fight with Ivan Robinson at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Chávez wore the Pizza Patrón logo on his shorts. He is considered by many to be the greatest Mexican fighter of all time and one of the best boxers of all time.

  1. The Pizza por Pesos® idea came from an outsider

Jeff Sinelli, friend and fellow restaurateur, suggested that Pizza Patrón accept pesos at its locations in December of 2006. In January of 2007, the company implemented the concept and received massive international news coverage as a result. Today, it is company policy to accept Mexican pesos in bill format at all of its locations.
